New .e Tokens - Explainer

What are the .e tokens?

  • They are the new tokens from the upgraded AB Bridge.
  • All AB tokens have .e at the end of the token name.
  • For example, ETH is the old AEB (Avalanche-Ethereum Bridge) token and ETH.e is the new AB version.

What is the new AB Bridge?

  • The Avalanche Bridge is used to seamlessly transfer ERC-20 tokens from Ethereum to the Avalanche C-Chain (and vice versa).
  • The upgraded bridge brings the following features:
    βœ…
Transactions are estimated to be 10x faster and 5x cheaper than the old AEB bridge.

    Stronger security
    πŸ˜ƒ
    Much better user experience
    🌎
There are plans to extend this bridge to support other networks

Which tokens must be migrated?

  • In order for Avalanche to successfully transition to the new bridge, users must migrate their tokens to the new .e version.
  • The old AEB tokens which must be migrated are: ETH, LINK, WBTC, USDT, SUSHI, DAI, UNI, AAVE, and YFI.
Remember - you only need to convert ERC-20 tokens. There is no need to convert Avalanche-native tokens.

How do I upgrade my tokens?

What happened to the old AEB Bridge?

  • The AEB has been deactivated and is no longer in use.
  • The funds held on the Ethereum side of the AEB have been moved to the new Avalanche Bridge (AB).
