New .e Tokens - Explainer
- All AB tokens have .e at the end of the token name.
- For example, ETH is the old AEB (Avalanche-Ethereum Bridge) token and ETH.e is the new AB version.
- The Avalanche Bridge is used to seamlessly transfer ERC-20 tokens from Ethereum to the Avalanche C-Chain (and vice versa).
- The upgraded bridge brings the following features:Transactions are estimated to be 10x faster and 5x cheaper than the old AEB bridge.✅Stronger security🔐Much better user experience😃There are plans to extend this bridge to support other networks🌎
- In order for Avalanche to successfully transition to the new bridge, users must migrate their tokens to the new .e version.
- The old AEB tokens which must be migrated are: ETH, LINK, WBTC, USDT, SUSHI, DAI, UNI, AAVE, and YFI.
Remember - you only need to convert ERC-20 tokens. There is no need to convert Avalanche-native tokens.
- The AEB has been deactivated and is no longer in use.
- The funds held on the Ethereum side of the AEB have been moved to the new Avalanche Bridge (AB).
